If I was to choose any non-SLR digicam right now it would be the Epson R-D1. Sadly I need my house and car.

Any idea how pocketable the R-D1 is? The NV7 OPS is 106 X 62.3 X 20.9mm while the RD-1 is 142 x 89 x 40 mm which doesn't seem bad.

I've never actually handled one. I just find the idea of a rangefinder cool.

The R-D1 is about the size (and feel and nearly look) of a Leica M6/7. Accepts the same glass and shoots beautifully. I would wait for the next version (or for Leica to put their own out).

I hadn't thought of the R-D1 but you are right, it is a good option. Thanks Chris. A pity it costs a mint though.
