Don't tell anyone but I have started to get into watching cricket. I am Irish and it would ruin my street cred if anyone found out. In Cork there are 2 bars that I know of that show the cricket.

1. Soho Bar on Grand Parade
2. Rochestown Inn

You have to be very nice to them but if you sweet talk the girls they will put it on for you. Obviously not when the big rugger and soccer matches are on though. Buying them a cheeky drink seriously helps

Brazil your as much of a west brit as they come I am afraid, sure you don't even support Fianna Fail like. Also you know how to play cricket and wear a bowler hat at the weekends.

Paul I think Sky now have an offer for free sky sports for two months if you sign for the basic package :)

What's so bad with the idea to bum around in the West Indies for a month?

I would be making some trips to each of the islands myself if I wasn't working like a demon on our office's biggest client.

Go to a pub such as the Uluru or one large enough to have multiple tv sets. Ask them to put it on when the Pub is quiet. Drink a lot. If you spend enough money when the Pub is otherwise not making any, they will let you watch whatever you like !
Also, now that Jonathon has outed himself as a West Brit can someone see he gets his come-uppins please!

Hi Paul, I guess that I'm one of the few Irish people that you've met whom you didn't know used to play cricket. I played for many years in Waterford until various reasons, mostly insurance and lack of grounds caused the whole thing to fall on its backside. Tis a great game though and sadly within Ireland and the UK there aren't really any alternatives to Sky if you want to catch a few overs. :( A more affordable way is to make friends with a Sky Sports subscriber who likes cricket, sadly I don't subscribe to the Sports channels myself otherwise you'd be welcome with a few bottles of beer under your arm.

I used to be a cricket fan myself but the lack of coverage since I moved over here kind of put a damper on the whole thing. I wouldnt exactly be crazy about the test matches spanning over days and days but I do like the one day matches. Much more pace to them and people actually get on with it.

As for the channels in Ireland, yeah its expensive. I think the cheapest way is to go with actual Sky and not through the cable providers.
