Life is grand: Google Reader for Google Apps for Your Domain

  • Edward Poore · 2 years ago
Any idea on how you got this working? I just tried it (running Windows though) and it doesn't work for my domain.

I was also wondering how you have accomplished this? I have long wished to use the reader program for my own domain and don't know why they haven't included this useful program with the whole apps package. (I am using OS X).

It works for me using the "better gmail" add-on in Firefox.
Still I have no idea why full integration of Google Reader into Google Apps is not complete yet...

I'd also like to know how to do this. I have just tried to access Reader with my Apps account and cannot do so.

    Paul, any updates on this?

It may be of interest to you guys to know that a thread on the Google Reader Help Group deals with this:

    No it doesn't!

Quite simple. Create a new Google Account (read: not GMail account, not Google Apps account) using your Google Apps e-mail address and the Google Account e-mail address, and then you can use it to sign up to other google apps.

    Hi Paul,
I found your site whilst looking for google apps reader. I can't get notifier or reader to work for my apps account and google say they don't provide the service - any advice on how to set these things up?
    Cheers

Craig, not sure how I got it working way back then. I just login in to reader.google.com with my Google Apps account (user@domain.com) and it works.

To make things clear. I think paul just created a new google account with his google apps mail address. And now he can log into reader.google.com with its google apps mail address. But that doesn't mean that google provides the reader under for example reader.mydomain.com.

    Cheers,

    Jan.

Or he could have added his Apps e-mail address as an alternative e-mail address under his @gmail.com account. Doing so would enable you to use that alternative e-mail address as the username for your Google account (your user data will still be tied to your @gmail.com account and not your Apps account).
