Life is grand: Bertie came

"The day went well though he was in and out faster than a wife dragging her man out of a pub"

That brings back the memories. It was all of 6 years ago when I setup in business and first thought of myself as a web developer. One of me first contracts was a website for the local parish council. As luck would have it An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was calling around to launch some other scheme/association in the parish and we got him to launch the website at the same time.

What amazed me was the way in which the whole thing was choreographed. Bertie's personal assistant literally rehearsed every footstep Ahern would take and estimated how long it would last..... "So An Taoiseach will enter at this door.... walk across the room thus.... sit down at this chair..... and push this button.... then he'll stand for a photograph and exit via that door".

Of course "pushing the button" didn't actually do anything significant but I guess it cut the virtual tape ;-)

Did I actually write "one of *me* first contracts"....? Crikey I'm not really that much of a bogger.... honestly! ;-)

    hehe, you culchie you ;)

One of the WIT dignitaries was leaning into Bertie's car yesterday. I remember seeing the car starting to inch forward, door still open and dignitary still attached. One of Bertie's minders had to push the dignitary away who then took a step back with his arms outspread, the door slammed shut and the car roared off. Pretty weird.

Weird indeed but I bet that kind of thing happens all the time. DId you ever see the episode of "Hanging with Hector" where Ò hEochagàin followed Bertie to France? There was a photocall on the steps of some building and Chirac forefully shoved one of Bertie's aides down the steps out of the shot. And I don't mean 'nudged gently'.... I mean *forecefully* shoved .... hehe....
